Q: How long should Efexor XL – aka Effexor XR or Venlafaxine 75 mg daily take to work?
I have been taking the above for 5 weeks now and have noticed no difference in my depression / anxiety. I have had no side effects just a bit of a dry mouth but I feel exactly the same as before.

My GP has said that if it doesn’t work she will try me on Citralipan??? any thoughts or opinions and one has re this one would be good

I was on sertraline – aka Lustral or Zoloft for years and was fine on this but for some reason it just stopped working. Would it be worth asking to go back on this at a higher dose???

I am trying to hang on in there but this is really affecting my life now and dont know how much more I can take feelling like this.

Any advice that I can take back to my GP or has anyone been through anything similar?

I started feeling depressed again and was told by my Gp that after all the years I had been on the sertraline (12 years) that my body had proberly got used to the medication and it was time to change them.

A: when i was taking it, it took about 2 months +

Effexor XR is venlafaxine HCI (37.5 mg for the first week, then 75 mg from then on), a medication for anxiety and depression. One of the side effects is loss of appetite, but I know everyone has different reactions. Anyone have any experience with this medication?

A: I just tried to stop taking Effexor XR. Make sure you’re aware of the withdrawal symptoms!!I thoughtg there wassomething seriously wrong with me. I was extremely dizzy and nauseous. It worked wonders on my depression but now I have to slowly ween myself off of it.

A: I’m on 250 mg and ever since I started on Effexor I noticed a loss of appetite. Because of that I’ve lost about 10 lbs since I’ve been on it. The only other side effect I have is a loss of sex drive.
