Q: how many hours after taking Venlafaxine XR would i noticed the effects of the drug wearing off?
i mean when would my depressive symptoms feel worse?
i take 375mg of venlafaxine XR per day.
A: This is some real technical reading so read it slow.
http://www.realmentalhealth.com/medications/effexor.asp
Effexor XR actually stays in your system for quit a long time. Depending on how long you have taken it will determine how strong the withdrawal effects will be.
Q: how many hours after taking Venlafaxine XR does the withdrawal symptoms start?
i take 375mg of venlafaxine Xr per day.
i know you don’t nessasarily get withdrawal symptoms.
A: If you have been taking them for a long period of time you will get actual withdrawals after about 36 hours after your last dose. I took them so I know exactly how it feels and it is no good. You have to taper off the stuff. Never stop abruptly.

Q: how many hours is the safe time limit between taking each dose of 375mg Venlafaxine XR?
i obviously take 375mg of Venlafaxine XR per day.
i just want to make sure i don’t take them too close to each other.
i take my pills anywhere between 8am -> 6pm.
when i take them depends on:
if i’m at home or going out…when/if/how long i sleep…if i forget to take them.
A: have a set time each day to do it as this optimises the dose u take
Q: What is the difference between Effexor XR and its generic version Venlafaxine XR?’?
I heard that Effexor treats panic attacks and generalized anxiety disorder, and that the generic version treats social anxiety and depression I think.
Is this true? Because my pharmacy gave me regular and I have social anxiety disorder, so I think I need generic.
A: there’s no difference, they make a generic version because its cheaper.just like they make generic versions of pretty much everything
Q: What is the maximum dose I can take for venlafaxine XR?
My doctor told me the maximum dose I can take is 225mg but I read on the internet from a google search that you can take more. Who is right? I’m taking 225 mg now and wish to increase my dose.
A: Maximal dosages simply refer to what’s been used in trials. It’s not unusual for physicians to prescribe 300 mg of Effexor XR. The physician can best determine the correct dosage and schedule for you.
Q: Novo-Venlafaxine XR — what type of side effects have you had? Do you reccomend it or not?
I will be trying Novo-Venlafaxine XR (37.5mgs) before the end of the month (after I’ve stopped Cipralex completely) for my anxiety and depression, and I was wondering how this medication has worked for those of you who have taken it? I’d be interested in knowing any side effects that you may have had. With Cipralex I didn’t have many side effects, mostly just extreme fatigue. I’m wondering if this medication is any better. I know it’s different for everybody, but I’m really curious. Is there anything I should avoid when taking Venlafaxine? Has anybody gained weight while taking it?
A: I have been on this med for 6 years and i take 150mg a day. I felt dizzy at first but that soon went once i got used to them.I have found this med is the best for me but everyone is different.
Q: Why would my doctor prescribe venlafaxine XR for irritable bowel movements, bloating, gas, and cramps?!?
I am on a waiting list for a colonoscopie and my doctor prescribed venlafaxine to me to reduce stress which she said stimulates bowel irritation. I dont feel comfortable taking anti-depressents for stomach pains…makes no sense to me?!
A: Your right, that doesn’t makes sense. More than anything, he should of prescribed you Benzodiazipines. They help me stay “regular” because it relaxes the colon muscles. Don’t take Venlafaxine. They always get me nausea. Call your doctor and tell him, WTF?
Q: is there any reason why I should not take the generic version of effexor xr (venlafaxine HCl)?
I want to switch to the generic because it is cheaper. Is it just as good or is there any reason to be concerned about taking it?
A: The generic of any medication is exactly the same as the original except for the fillers sometimes. The interactive chemicals are the same so it should have the same result for less money. I noticed no difference switching from Wellbutrin XL to the generic.
Q: Does anybody out there take anti-depression pills GEN-VENLAFAXINE XR 37.5MG?
if you take can you share ur experience with me? i am currently taking for 5 days.
A: Venlafaxen is Effexor 37.5 mg, and the XR means extended release, which means it is released slowly over the course of the day.
Everyone is different and will experience symptoms or not, similar or unlike yours. So it is probably best to check with your doc about potential side effects (or your pharmacist) to look for. The leaflet you were given with the medication is a compilation of every side effect that has been reported for this medication. So, can go through that and underline any that you may be experiencing, or add your own, and discuss with your doctor. You may or may not be experiencing side effects that may or may not continue. Therapeutic levels are usually reached 10-14 days after beginning an SSRI. So any side effects you may be experiencing now may well go away within a couple of days, or may continue. Again, consult your physician.
Again, no 2 people will have the same experience with any medication. One person may have no side effects, while another may be having terrible stomach and digestive issues, but since his friend has no side effects, he may just go on with diarrhea and become dehydrated because after all, his friend had no side effects!!
Please check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Q: Am I going to gain weight while taking Effexor XR?
Effexor XR is venlafaxine HCI (37.5 mg for the first week, then 75 mg from then on), a medication for anxiety and depression. One of the side effects is loss of appetite, but I know everyone has different reactions. Anyone have any experience with this medication?
A: I just tried to stop taking Effexor XR. Make sure you’re aware of the withdrawal symptoms!!I thoughtg there wassomething seriously wrong with me. I was extremely dizzy and nauseous. It worked wonders on my depression but now I have to slowly ween myself off of it.
Q: What is the worst I can expect while my body withdraws from Venlafaxine (Effexor XR) 150 mg cold turkey?
Due to a few reasons I discontinued the use of Effexor XR about 4 days ago now. I had been taking my highest dosage of 150 mg, for about 3 months up until this point.
I started getting the brain zaps, cold chills, nausea etc, only about 6 hours after my first discontinued dose, it is terrible withdraw but seems to be getting slightly better each day. I am just curious how long I can expect these withdraw symptoms and the severity of them?
I am only 21 and fairly active and healthy guy.
A: I am currently on Effexor. I’m 17 and I’m on a 70 mg dose. You should have never just stopped cold turkey. the best thing to do is to slowly reduce your dose i.e. take half the 150 dose for a week or two, then half of that until you’re down to barely anything. i have gone off it cold turkey, and got the same symptoms. i got a lot of shaking, nausea, chills, very depressive/suicidal, dizzy, and just felt overall fucked up. i also slowly got off the dose as well, but felt that it still made me very depressed without it (more than usual). so i am back on it. i am not sure how long your symptoms will last. try looking withdrawal symptoms up for Effexor or make an appointment at the doctor for more information.
Q: Venlafaxine/Effexor XR side effects?
I have been on this drug now… just went up to 150mg last Monday and I am tired all the time… drained.. no effort to do anything really. And my sex drive is down majorly…. has anyone else experienced this on the drug? If so and you changed drugs .. which drug did you change to? I KNOW the mental meds are all trial and error… I’ve already been on Wellbutrin and Prozac… just trying to get an idea of what to try next. but I am going to give this drug another two weeks or so as I’ve been on it for about three weeks working the dosage up.
Mild bipolar disorder and depression… I”ma angry and easily irritated depressed person for the most part.
A: One common problem that happens is this. I have been there and done that. You have to figure out what it is first that is destroying your sex drive. If your on medication like birth control or anti-depressants that is something to think about and do research on. Other then that it could just be stress, maybe the kids, really anything that makes your life stressful can do this and lower the libido.
One thing I tried that seemed to work while I was doing it was exercising. I just felt sexier doing it which kind of boosted my libido. However it wasn’t the best solution for me. My friend told me about these herbal enhancers that are made from natural herbs and don’t cause any side effects besides having wild sex. She said it’s the female version of viagra. I had to find out.
I would always have a weak orgasm too (if I had one at all), which after trying this sex enhancer, it boosted them tremendously. I don’t get multiple orgasms but I’ve had plenty since being on these herbs. It’s seriously like the best vibrator ride you’ve ever experienced. These things make me horny all the time, some days I don’t even take them because the urge is just too strong.
Don’t try out single herbs because they don’t do it like the blend of herbs these scientists and researchers pick out. I’ve tried a couple of them by itself and they did crap. The stuff that I’m on is called Hersolution, at the time I saved money on it at herenhancement.com . Make sure you get the 3 month supply that way you fall under the guarantee/return policy if the herbs don’t work for you, you can return them with no questions ask. I bet they will work though and you won’t have any problems. Also if your on medication of any sort, check out the gel because if your like me, you wouldn’t want to swallow any thing that might react with the medications your already on.
Well have a good day and hopefully you solved your problem.
Q: what’s the maximum dose of Venlafaxine xl [Effexor xl/xr] ?
from what i’ve seen on the net the max’ is 225mg, but my psychiatrist is putting me on 300mg.
A: Yeah, although 225 mg was the max that was first set for daily use, psychiatrists found that off label they could use much higher doses, in excess of 300, indeed, and many psychiatrists had superb effects at these otherwise “high doses.” When Effexor XR came out psychiatrists would often gingerly start at 75 mg and then move up for most patients, but in a young, healthy patient with normal renal and hepatic function, it’’s fairly routine to start with 150 mg daily and then escalate if need be versus consider adding something like Abilify 5 or 10 mg.
Q: What are the differences between Effexor XR and its generic version of venlafaxine?
I was on Effexor for years and loved it. About a year or so ago my general practioner told me to swtich to something else for reasons that don’t matter. My psych switched me to Cymbalta, but it has never worked as well for me as the Effexor did. But my general prac. was still convinced the Effexor was eafecting my physical health (although we later found out this wasnt the case) so I sadly stuck with the Cymbalta.
Anyways, recently I became a part time student rather than a full time student, meaning I am no longer covered by my parents insurance and the new insurance i am on sucks and makes us pay like $250 a month for my cymbalta because it isnt generic. I found out that there is now a generic version of Effexor and was overjoyed. I called my psych and explained everything and he agreed to start be back on the generic Effexor.
Problem is, I went to CVS to pick it up and it wasnt the generic, it was regular Effexor XR and they charged me over $200. I talked to the pharmacist and he said this is because the pharmacist doesnt have the authority to just give me the generic like he does with other meds because the venlafaxine (the generic effexor) comes in tablet form, while Effexor XR comes in capsule. This, for some reason, makes them different medications, even though they do they the same thing/have same side effects.
Has anyone switched from Effexor XR capsules to the generic tablets? And if so, how has the experience been for you? I’m calling my psych tomorrow and hopeing he’ll call the pharm and correct it and I can either return my unopened bottle or the insurance company will do something. LET ME KNOW PLEASE!
Thanks for all the help everyone! Just wanted to clarify (I know I tend to ramble), I *have* to be on a generic, I just can’t afford it otherwise on my new really crappy insurance.
And although, yes, I remember the terrible withdrawl side effects of missing a dose of Effexor, the pros totally outweigh the cons. So I will call my psych tomorrow and tell him to write me a prescript for the generic tablets (which I believe are also time release but maybe not as long acting as the capsules), and as for this 90 day supply of Effexor XR 75mg I have, if the pharmacy or my insurance won’t take it, I guess I’ll just toss it. THANKS AGAIN!
A: i was on Effexor XR for many years, and i switched to the generic one as soon as it was available(a couple years ago)
The generic medication:Venlafaxine IS available in XR,meaning extended release.I just looked at the box:Novo-Venlafaxine XR
I was on vacation in another country, when i ran out of my Effexor ER,and i had to switch to the tablets, that are not extended release.
It was OK,i had to take several pills throughout the day.
Don’t ever stop taking effexor “cold turkey”.
Call the Dr tomorrow,if you are on a high dose of Effexor, its a pain in the neck to take several pills during the day.
The generic drug is out there,in a capsule!
Q: How long should Efexor XL – aka Effexor XR or Venlafaxine 75 mg daily take to work?
I have been taking the above for 5 weeks now and have noticed no difference in my depression / anxiety. I have had no side effects just a bit of a dry mouth but I feel exactly the same as before.
My GP has said that if it doesn’t work she will try me on Citralipan??? any thoughts or opinions and one has re this one would be good
I was on sertraline – aka Lustral or Zoloft for years and was fine on this but for some reason it just stopped working. Would it be worth asking to go back on this at a higher dose???
I am trying to hang on in there but this is really affecting my life now and dont know how much more I can take feelling like this.
Any advice that I can take back to my GP or has anyone been through anything similar?
In reply to Gemlicious:
I started feeling depressed again and was told by my Gp that after all the years I had been on the sertraline (12 years) that my body had proberly got used to the medication and it was time to change them.
A: when i was taking it, it took about 2 months +
