Looking to Buy Nexium 40 mg? Need more information? Try our Canadian Pharmacy website TheDrugCompany.com

Q: Should I still take the 40 MG Nexium before a gi endoscopy in 2 weeks?
In 2 weeks, I am going to have an endoscopy since I have gerd. They are going to check for inflammations and other structures in the gastro system. I have been on Nexium for around 2 months now, but I still continue to have reflux symptoms (heartburn & regurgitation). If I keep taking Nexium for the 2 weeks the procedure, would it affect the accuracy of the test?

A: Call the office of the doctor who ordered the test and ask the staff this question. It is too important to trust to the answers from lay strangers on the Internet.

Q: Can you take nexium 40 mg , zantac 150mg and mylanta ?
Does anyone know if its safe to take all three of these meds together, i know you can take the nexium and zantac for extreme cases of heartburn but is it safe to take the mylanta along with it. I still have extremly bad burning in my chest and back and under my armpits and breatbone?

A: take the nexium and zantac together, but wait at least one hour after or two hours before to take the mylanta. Mylanta will block the absorption of the other meds. There is no harmful interaction, it’s just that mylanta or maalox coat the digestive tract and prevent the absorption of other meds.

Q: my cat ate a nexium pill (purple 40 mg) i called poison control and she said my cat will be fine?
is the poison control lady telling me the truth?? she ate it about a half hour ago. i pulled it out of her mouth and saw she ate half of it already.
yeah its not my pill, its my fat ass lazy moms and im always picking up pills that she drops….

A: Did you call poison control for humans, or the special one for animals? If it was the human one, then you need to verify this with a line that specializes in animals. Call your local emergency vet if you want to validate what you’ve been told.

Q: Hi guys could anyone tell me how much does nexium 40 mg cost in india?

A: I do not know friend but that little purple pill studies at UCLA have shown actually is addictive becausew the pill GIVES you wors condition of the original problem. Seriously. Let me go dig out that article. The stuff is pur poison and the Big Pharma knows it, i.e. they KNOw that you take it and then get worse without it. Do yourself a favor and do a slow gentle taper off.

Q: Is Adderall 15mg twice a day and Wellbutrin 300 XL mg okay to take together?
along with nexium 40 mg a day?

A: call your Dr or the pharmacist. even if you got them from the dr they sometimes miss things in your chart if they gave them at differant times, by all means check with someone, they even have a med site on msn home page. health the answer might be there

Q: How should I take nexium prescription of 80 mg daily?
One dose of 80 mg once a day or two doses of 40 mg twice a day?

A: Your physician should have advised you as to how he/she wanted you to take the medications as well as written the script accordingly. I’m assuming he/she wrote the script to read, “80 mg daily” instead of one once or twice a day. Call your physician and ask how you are to take the medication. It can mean the difference of an effective medication versus one that’s barely or not working at all for you.

Q: Does Nexium cause bone pain?
I have several issues with my stomach and was put on Nexium 40 mg/day by my doc. Three days into taking this med I developed bone pain in my pelvis and femurs. During activity (ex. skiing) the pain was debilitating. A pharmacist advised me to stop taking the Nexium. Sure enough three days off of it and my bone pain is completely gone. My doctor is unconvinced, but I don’t want to take this med if it’s causing this pain…any advice/similar experience?

A: it’s a great medication for GERD and other gastro problems.
It never gave me any debilitating side effects but that’s not
to say that you are not feeling some.

I did stop taking Nexium only because it’s quite expensive and
I my doctor put me on something else less expensive…….

Q: Psyllium husk Before taking Nexium 10 mins b4 (Breakfast)?
I am 20 years old and had an ENDOSCOPY 2 days back. I’ve been diagnosed with Small Hiatus Hernia and prescribed NEXIUM 40 MG 10 MINS BEFORE BREAKFAST, PEPCID 20 MG BEDTIME….I am having constipation now…..WHen shall I eat Psyllium husk before taking NEXUIM or at bedtime after PEPCID , coz I know it’ll help me….And can I eat MC’VITIES DIGESTIVE biscuits????Please do reply!

A: The point of nexium is to prevent the acid reflux from happening in the first place. Therefore it will make sense to take nexium half an hour before a meal so that the drug can get into your body first so that when you eat your meal, the amount of acid would be reduced.

Your doctor instructed nexium in the morning which is fine. If your heart burn is worst at night, take it half hour before dinner. Nexium blocks the acid pump, therefore prevents acid from being pumped into your stomach. Pepcid blocks histamine which serves as a signal to pump acid into your stomach. Nexium is far superior to Pepcid and your body can become tolerant to pepcid over time (reversable when stopped though).

Now for constipation. Psillium will help with constipation only if you drink enough water with it. The additional bulk in your gut helps stimulate your intestines to move. However, if you don’t drink enough water it will do the opposite and cause CONSTIPATION. Psillium can be used as anti-diarrheal or constipating agent depending on the amount of water you consume.

To answer your question, Psyllium is best taken with breakfast and yes, you can have the biscuits.

Q: What can cause a fasting blood sugar of only 63, if nothing has been found to be wrong w/you medically?
This is after 12 hours of fasting. I am 35 years old and slightly overweight (need to lose 20 pounds and working on it). There is no history of diabetes on either side of my family. I take Dilantin 100 mg twice daily; Synthroid 0.25 mg daily; and Nexium 40 mg daily. One thing, though: me and my dad’s side of the family love to eat candy such as Red Hots and Bit-O-Honey. I am on Weight Watchers, but I work such candy in every single day. Maybe my pancreas produces too much insulin in response to eating sweets? Every other medical problem has been ruled out. Also, recently, I had a random blood sugar done right after I ate pancakes with syrup and orange juice, and my blood sugar was only in the lower 90s.

A: I don’t understand the concern unless your doctor is concerned. Usually there is no concern over a fasting blood sugar unless it is below 40 mg/dL…and you are quite a bit higher than 40 mg/dL. While most labs consider a normal fasting blood sugar to be 70 to 100 mg/dL, a low result often isn’t an issue unless it drops below 40 mg/DL.

As to what can cause a low fasting blood sugar:
hypothyroidism
malnutrition
diabetic medication
liver disease
kidney failure
pituitary gland tumor
Addison’s disease

Q: Need help to cure hiatal hernia with nature cure?
I am diagnosed with hiatal hernia and stomach ulcer and my GP prescribed me Nexium 40 mg per day. I wonder it is not working and symptoms getting worse

Since yesterday morning, I have difficulty in breathing and pain in upper right chest part.

Cud anybody please advise natural treatment/cure about hiatal hernia?

I will really appreciate your help.

A: One of the best articles I have seen regarding a hiatal hernia and the cures can be found from CureZone here:

http://curezone.com/dis/1.asp?C0=180

Besides the lifestyle changes and exercises recommended from the site above, you can drink Caraway tea. It really helps.

Make a tea of 1 tsp. of Caraway seeds and 8 ounces of boiling water. Let steep for 8 to 10 minutes, and drink after meals.

As far as stomach ulcers, I found a wonderful article from eHow on stomach ulcers. I used to have ulcers myself, and most of these remedies really do help.

Here is the link to the article:

http://www.ehow.com/how_2099314_treat-stomach-ulcers-natural-remedies.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art

1. Increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly juices. A healthy raw food diet is the most important ingredient in natural remedies, particularly those effecting digestion. It is important that you eat foods that your body can easily digest, ensuring that you receive all of the vitamins and minerals your body need to maintain balance.

2. Limit the triggers that cause hyperacidity in the stomach to prevent and soothe stomach ulcers. Things such as spicy foods, alcohol, coffee, tobacco and overeating can increase the levels of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, causing and worsening peptic ulcers.

3. Eat bananas, one of Mother Earth’s best natural remedies for stomach ulcers. Bananas neutralize the hydrochloric acid in the stomach, reducing the painful symptoms of peptic ulcers. Eat two bananas with a glass of milk three times a day to soothe acid reflux and prevent further aggravation.

4. Make an infusion of wood apple leaves to relieve pain and discomfort caused by stomach ulcers. Soak 15g of wood apple leaves in 250 ml of water overnight. The next morning, strain the leaves from the water and drink.

5. Drink fenugreek tea twice a day to protect the lining of the stomach and intestines. Fenugreek seeds, used in many natural remedies, are highly mucilaginous and will coat the stomach and intestines as they pass through your body, both preventing and soothing stomach ulcers. Boil one cup of water and remove from heat. Add 1 tsp. of fenugreek seeds, allowing to steep for 5 minutes before straining and drinking.

6.Reduce stress, which can trigger peptic ulcers. Get lots of gentle exercise to help relax and eliminate toxins from the body. Getting regular massage, practicing yoga, meditation or Tai Chi can all help reduce your stress and help prevent further problems from stomach ulcers.

Personally, I drank cabbage juice, aloe vera and chlorophyll (not all mixed together. Drank separately throughout the day.)

Most pharmacies carry chlorophyll and aloe vera. Juice the cabbage yourself using a juicer, and drink 4- 4oz. glasses a day. Here is an article from the Happy Juicer that explains this:

http://www.happyjuicer.com/juicing-information/cabbage-juice-ulcers.asp

I hope this helps!

Q: help me with my out of control acid reflux please?
I was diagnosis with Gerd a few years ago. I take Nexium 40 mg twice a day, Regalin 3 times a day and Carafate liquid.
Why am I still suffering? I don’t eat the fun foods that I love, I drink one cup, if that of Simply Smooth coffee in the am…. I still have a terrible choking feeling in my throat, I am still coughing acid.
It’s really driving me crazy… I am losing weight to help, I have a little tummy, but I am not obese… I mean I see huge people pack away stuff and never suffer… why me? What can do? Any home remedies out there that are tried and true?
Erica

A: Your esophogus may be eroding so much and closing. You might want to have an endoscopy done where they will insert a tube in through your mouth and down to your stomach. If your esophogus is closing, they will be able to push it back out. I have about the same problems and take almost the same meds & I too am not even close to being overweight and I’m only 24! After my procedure, I also have Gastritis.

Q: Can I incorporate ginger into my anti-GERD diet?
I also take Nexium 40 mg once in the morning. I’m talking two ginger snaps, plus one piece of soft ginger candy from the health food store, per day. I’ve read everywhere that ginger has good digestive properties, as well as works as a mild reflux remedy.

A: Nothing helps my tummy feel better than to have some ginger ale. I’m not sure how much ginger you are getting in the ginger snap cookies. I like to eat candied pieces of ginger. They can be quite spicy, but do help with a tummy ache and I suppose reflux too. I have GERD, too..

Q: Help, What’s left that I can tolerate with acid reflux?
Hi I’m having a really bad flare up of my acid reflux even though I’m on Nexium 40 mg a day with mylanta inbetween 5 times a day.The chest pain , lump in my throat and burning is driving me crazy, I can’t have coffee, milk , soda, juice, tea. Is water the only thing left?Would some of you other suffers comment what you can eat and drink without setting your acid reflux in a tail spin?
Thanks for all the answers, it’s obvious a lot of people have this problem.

A: I probably can’t be much help, but I suffer the same way. Just last night I woke up with what seems like a cold and acid reflux at the same time! My throat was killing me! Since then it’s gotten better.

But the first time I realized I had a problem like GERD I was very concerned. However, after staying on prevacid for a long time, it eventually faded. Now it just comes back every so often. Here lately it is worse, but I’m still fighting it.

As far as what you can eat or drink, definitely water. It seems like water even bothered me some, but it was probably just when it went by the tear in my esophagus. I’ve just read that you should eat mild foods and drink things without caffeine and alcohol in them. Good luck!

Q: Difference between Controloc and Nexium?
I have been on Controloc 40 mg for the past 3 or 4 months and I don’t feel my duodenal ulcer getting any better. Is Nexium better than controloc or both are the same?
Did any one use Nexium and felt better?

A: They are both in the same class of medicines. One isn’t necessarily “better” than the other. There’s no way to tell (without a trial) if a medicine will work better (than another) for a patient.

Ask your doctor about trying Nexium.

Q: How long does it take for Nexium to begin working? I’ve been on it for a week now.?
I’ve been taking 40 MG, once a day, but I still have a continuous bad taste in my mouth, heartache, clearing of throat after meals, and sometimes numbness in my left arm (I DON’T have heart problems). One other note though… My seasonal allergies have flared up so I have a lot of post nasal drip, which can’t be helping matters.

A: Incompetence of the lower esophageal sphincter allows reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus, causing burning pain. Prolonged reflux may lead to esophagitis, stricture, and rarely metaplasia. Diagnosis is clinical, sometimes with endoscopy, with or without acid testing. Treatment involves lifestyle modification, acid suppression using proton pump inhibitors, and sometimes surgery.
Esomeprazole is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and injury of the esophagus (food pipe between the mouth and stomach). Esomeprazole is used to treat the symptoms of GERD, allow the esophagus to heal, and prevent further damage to the esophagus. It is also used with other medications to prevent stomach ulcers. Esomeprazole is in a class of medications called proton pump inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach.
Certain foods and lifestyle are considered to promote gastroesophageal reflux:
* Coffee, alcohol, and excessive amounts of Vitamin C supplements are stimulants of gastric acid secretion. Taking these before bedtime especially can promote evening reflux. Calcium containing antacids are in this group.
* Foods high in fats and smoking reduce lower esophageal sphincter competence, so avoiding these tends to help, as well. Fat also delays emptying of the stomach.
* Having more but smaller meals also reduces the risk of GERD, as it means there is less food in the stomach at any one time.
* avoid eating for 2 hours before bedtime
* avoid soft drinks
* avoid chocolate and peppermint
* avoid spicy foods
* avoid acidic foods like oranges and tomatoes (however, they are okay when fresh.)
* avoid cruciferous vegetables: onions, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, brussel sprouts
* milk and milk-based products contain calcium and fat, so should be avoided before bedtime
Please see the web pages for more details on Esomeprazole (generic name) Nexium (brand name) and GERD.

Q: my infant has to take 20 mg of nexium a day. 20mg= ?
my little girl has to take 20 mg of nexium a day. 10 mg in the morning and 10 mg at night. Im wondering how do I measure 10 mg in a medicine cup or dropper. does 10 mg = tsp or something that can be measured? thanks

A: 10 mg. of liquid depends on the dosage of your medication. It should say on the bottle how many mg per ML, which is a measurement for liquid, and this can be converted into teaspoons, i.e. it takes approximately 2 tsp. to equal 10 milliliters of medication. That means two droppers (5ml each) of medication for each dose, which seems like a LOT. Also, I was advised by a doctor that Nexium for children can affect the absorption of nutrients – my son has acid reflux and I noticed him getting skinnier and pale, he was anemic even though he ate good foods, it turned out the Nexium was preventing not only acid from forming in the stomach but also preventing food from being digested at all, leaving it to pass through his system without him getting the nutrients from it. Be careful and do your research on that! Best of luck, and here is an online conversion site for future reference:

Q: I am allergic to penicillin can i take nexium esomeprazole 20mg?
I am allergic to penicillin can i take nexium esomeprazole 20 mg? I have read the website but am confused about if this product contains penicillin. I live in korea and don’t speak the language here has anyone else had this question?

A: Nexium is a proton pump inhibitior which means it blocks the stomach secretion of acid. It is not an antibiotic and contains no penicillin, so you are okay.

Q: Does the same prescription medicine cost different at different pharmacies? ?
Example: A prescription for Nexium 20 mg will cost, say, $35 in CVS and in Duane Reade–for the same medicine/dose–it costs $50.00.

A: Well, you answered your own question. Yes. There are price differences according to the pharmacy used. Some of these are due to the size of the store or chain. A chain like CVS is going to buy more Nexium for all its stores than a little mom & pop pharmacy. Because they by more, they get a better price from the pharmaceutical company that makes it. To get the cheapest price look into getting a 3 month script from your doctor and check out a mail order outlet. They usually have the best prices. Of course, this may not be possible with narcotics.

Q: Psyllium husk Before taking Nexium 10 mins b4 (Breakfast)?
I am 20 years old and had an ENDOSCOPY 2 days back.
Q: Chest Pain and Throbbing…am Confused….Please Help!?
I was recently diagnosed a Small Hiatus Hernia and Moderate Peristalsis after an endoscopy. I turned 21 on the 12th of April this year. I am very serious about my health. 4 months back I was taking RIVOTRIL( CLONZEPAM ), Nexium 40 mg and Librax. After having an endoscopy in november I was prescribed NEXIUM 40 MG before breakfast and Pepcid ( Famotidine ) 20 mg before bed time daily for 6 weeks. After that I am on Nexium 20 mg and Librax 2 times daily on and off. I often have a chest pain and a throbbing sensation. I am growing weak. I’ve had almost every blood test to assure my self of any deadly disease. My LFT is normal, My BLOOD CBC is normal, URINE DR is normal, Thyroid Profile is normal. Last week I had an Lipid Profile test with 12 hours of fasting and my cholesterol was 143, HDL 40, LDL 80, VLDL 8 ( NOT SURE ), CHOLESTEROL/HDL RATIO was 3.5. All the above are in mg/dl ( Not Sure ). I’ve stopped taking all the medicines and started to take Lansoprazole 30 mg twice daily and 1 dragee of librax after dinner. What shall I do…My Gastroenterologist says that its all ANXIETY and nothing else….I am still not satisfied…what shall I do…please suggest. I was also prescribed Cidine ( Cinitapride ) 3 times daily 15 mins before every meal but I didnt have it,…..Am confused…..PLease help

A: First, anxiety and stress will not lead you anywhere. Although you are young and have this problem, the best way to beat it is to relax and think positively.

Think it this way: what if you didn’t diagnose this problem in time? It would become huge, wouldn’t it? So, fortunately you know what you have, and you’re taking all the precautions to stay healthy and with less problems. So, go on like this and enjoy your life. Nothing comes with “cloudy thoughts”.

It’s true what your doctors suggested you that this chest pain is mostly from your anxiety and stress.
Enjoy your long-way life and take the right precautions and live for long time until God has decided the right time for you as for all of us. One day we will go, but we must enjoy the gift our God send us: Our Life!

Q: Do I have any other options for migraine preventatives?
I am a 25 year old female that has suffered from migraines since the age of 15. I have been on several medications over the years to control the migraines. I finally found a successful preventative medication and have been on it since 2007.My only preventative is Verapamil 240 mg twice daily. My doctor tried me on 240 mg three times daily but it was causing my blood pressure to drop too much. My abortive medication is the 6 mg Imitrex injection and Ultram for pain.

List of preventatives tried and failed:
Topamax
Depakote
Zanaflex
Magnesium supplements
Klonipin
Cardizem LA

The problem I am having now is the return of daily headaches with severe migraines about once a week. And they are not rebound headaches. I have had experience with those before and I don’t care to repeat that. I am only taking pain medication and abortive medication about once a week so I can try to keep from experiencing rebound headaches.I also suffer from a TMJ disorder and wear an NTI device at night. I just had it refitted at the dentist so I know that teeth grinding is not causin the headaches. I keep a daily pain journal, a daily headache log, and a food log so I cazn avoid my trigger foods. Do I have any options left that I may be able to try for PREVENTATIVES that I can discuss with my doctor at my appointment at the end of next month?

A: You’ve tried every med on earth!.
You can try natural (herbal) treatment. Read http://natural-migraine.blogspot.com/
Herbs for headaches are variously anti-inflamatory, antispasmodic, anti-nausea and pain-relieving. Those that treat migraine also help rebalance the circulation.

Q: What to eat Before Lipid Profile Test?
Tomorrow in the morning I have to go for a LIPID PROFILE TEST….I am only 20 years old and feel alot of discomfort in my chest..Had an ECG 3 months back and it was normal…I was experiencing PALPITAIONS but later on I was diagnosed with ANXIETY by a GASTROENTEROLOGIST…He kept me on NEXIUM 20 MG before breakfast, concor 2.5mg ( 1 tablet after breakfast for 1.5 months only ), Librax 2 times daily and Rivotril 0.5 mg at bedtime…..I ate these medicines for around 3 months coz on and off I was experiencing some problem with my digestion process….Sumtimes HEARTBURN, CHEST DISCOMFORT, DYSENTERY, etc…..14 days back My GASTROENTEROLOGIST asked me to stop taking all the medications and visit him on 10-11-09….I am having alot of chest discomfort wid heartburn and all….I am not taking any medicine….So I have decided to go for an LIPID PROFILE just to make sure my HEART is working fine and there is no cholesterol problem wid me… So wanted to know what do I have to eat before going for the test….I asked the pathologist and he said that 12-14 hours of fasting is required for a LIPID PROFILE test…I’ll b going 2morrow in the morning…So what should I eat in my dinner today…..Please reply asap

A: Staying away from fatty foods the night before will give you a better result.
You should be fasting for 12hrs before getting your blood drawn. It is ok
to drink water. At your age anxiety is the likely culprit. Even if you had
high cholesterol, your young heart would not have disease.

Q: medicine reactions?
I am taking ultram 200 mg once a day with 800 mg skelatin 1 a day, singular 20mg -and 300mg wellbutrin XL, nexium 20 mg, and asocal 2400mg a day, and I was also added onto prednisone 60mg a day and then a decongestant and an antibiotic. Whats bothering me is I am very hungry all the time, and the most annoying side effect is rapid heart beat. NOT TO mention that the pain med is not helping my injured back. The other meds are for asthma, allergies, sinus infection, and
antidepressant. I am due to return to work from vacation on the 2nd, but I don’t think its going to go to easy. I feel bloated, and nervious, and drugged…. not to mention I have a headache with all this..(must be the infection) can anyone tell me if its too much meds? can this be whats causing the
dizziness, palpatations, etc? what would you do?

A: I can tell you that the Prednisone is why you are hungry all the time. I was on it a short time for my back injury and gained about 10 pounds. As for the dizziness and headache, that could be a reaction to many of those meds, or if you are being treated for sinus or ear infections they could also be a culprit. Best thing to do is call you Doctor and let him decide what is going on. The rapid heartbeat is more of a concern. Call the pharmacy, or on that is open 24 hours and ask for the pharmacist. He could give you info on that and help you decide if you need to be seen right away or not. Hope you feel better soon!

Q: I’ve been constipated for 3 days…..Please Help!?
I’ve been on many medicines since 8 months which include, NEXIUM, LIBRAX, PEPCID etc…….I’ve been taking LIBRAX 2 times daily and NEXIUM 20 MG daily for the past 2 months. I;ve been constipated for 3 days now…I am dizzy…Bloated.I am feeling I am might die….Please help….My endoscopy showed SMALL HIATUS HERNIA and MODERATE PERISTALSIS but NORMAL DUODENUM. Please help!

A: Hi,
This is the best one and only, for constipation, you wont hear it from many doctors because a lot of them don’t know this simple solution, they will just keep prescribing you the same old crap.Natural food high in magnesium, which draws water to the bowel, thats what you need. The best for this is peanuts!!!!!!!Hot chocolate is another with high magnesium.I researched this problem for a long time with which my 2 year old suffered immensely, and it started to create psychological problems, she began to fear needing to go to the toilet. This worked for her,and I know it has for others.Handful of peanuts a day keeps the doctor away.

Q: Please help. I am waking up about 15-30 minutes after falling asleep choking every night?
I wake up every night with a feeling that something is stuck in my throat, and usually wake up choking. This only happens once in the initial 30 mins of sleep then I have no problem for the rest of the night. I have noticed that this only happens when I fall into a deep sleep. If I sleep lightly this does not happen. Sometimes I also wake up feeling like I am about to pass out with my heart racing also within the inital 15-30 mins of deep sleep. I am taking nexium 20 mg daily for reflux. Does this condition sound familiar? Thanks in advance.

A: It may be sleep apnea. I have that. You should bring this up with your doctor; your doctor will be able to refer you to a sleep clinic where they will hook all sorts of little electrodes all over your body, and then observe you sleep. then they’ll probably give you a cpap machine. i have one of those. i never could sleep with it on.

i bought a couple of wedge pillows. those help tremendously because the weight of my chest isn’t pressing down on me so much. you may want to try one.

(hahaha – in the middle of the night when they were doing my sleep study I kept hearing them call my name. when i woke up enough to understand that they were calling me, i realized i was face down in the electrode box and they were trying to get me to roll over. haha)

Q: Is Nexium bad over time?
I’m 16 and I take Nexium because I have very bad stomach problems Acid Reflux, Upset Stomach, ect. I don’t have any ulcers so the doctor prescribed me this the dosage is 20 mg I haven’t had any problems with it yet but could it be bad over a long period of time I am supposed to take it forever.

A: I don’t think there is any long term side effects. I have never taken it but I do take Prilosec everyday and have for years. The only side effect I get from it is bloating.

You could ask your doctor about it but I think he would switch you to something else if there were long term effects.

The side effects can’t be as bad as the reflux….man it’s awful!

Q: Dentists or even better Periodontists Please Answer?
First of all I have Lupus and a demyelinating condition that has given me Autonomic Nervous System Failure. Due to this condition I severe gastric reflux while on a safe diet and no alcohol. Without Nexium I bring up literally cupfuls of gastric acid each day. On Nexium 40mg I am not absorbing enough calcium to stop my jaw from locking shut and pulling my jaw sideways. On 20 mg Nexium my jaw functions normally yet I still bring up acid. My teeth have turned yellow because the enamel is wearing off from the acid despite having always bee a good flosser and brusher. My dentist of 23 years ( I am 42 )
says I’ve kept him poor until now. Which brings me to my question:

CAN I still have periodontitis on 2 of my back teeth if my dentist tells me (and of course I know myself ) I don’t have gingivitis anywhere??? Two of my back teeth are loose and on xray the ligaments that are meant to hold them in on one of them are not visible. OR is it the CLENCHING alone has loosened my teeth?

A: Yes there is something called localised periodontitis

Q: Librax or Prokinetic ( Cinitapride )???? Please Suggest….?
I’ve been taking 20 MG NEXIUM once daily and 2 Librax daily. I;ve been constipated….Uggh…..i’ve been visitng a GASTROENTEROLOGIST for around 7 months but after getting the same mediciation prescribed from him I visited another Gastroenterologist. He gave me CIDINE ( Cinitapride ) 1mg 3 tablets daily and LANSOPRAZOLE 30 mg twice daily….Am consfused….am constipated….am having severe chest pain…am having headache…..what shall I do…which doc to follow…

I also had an ENDOSCOPY 4 months back and it showed SMALL HIATUS HERNIA, MODERATE PERISTALSIS but Normal Duodenum.

Please suggest….Dont post any link and make a mixup….

A: try eating healthy and drinking water

Q: ankle swelling think it may be fluid retention?
ok so i am writing this for my mom. she has very bad swelling of her ankles and has done the 10 second test where you press your finger on it for 10 seconds and then if it leaves an indention there is fluid there. She is on 20 mg Lasix and it is not working. She also has had sodium tests done and levels seem to be normal. She also takes 2mg of resperdole. She has also had a restless leg sydrome test and that was not it. She also takes 750 mg of depakote and 10 mg lipitore and 10 mg nexium and 150 mg of Zantac. Could it be a combination of all the diff meds? We have narrowed down that the cause is resperdole or coffee yet she needs both of these to function. Also it occurs on AND off feet. What should she do? Thank you everyone who answers.
btw she is 52
She is in Mental health care jackass….

A: You’ve described an attack I had of gout which is the result of too much rich food.which combined with relative inactivity might be the cause.

Looking to Buy Nexium? Need more information? Try our Canadian Pharmacy website TheDrugCompany.com

Q: Nexium??????
I was given Nexium by my doctor for my acid reflux plus unexplained stomach pain. If I try not to take it my pains and acid reflux comes back. My question is…can I continue to take this medicine forever with no repercussions?

A: yes and it will eventually heal your esophagus and possibly even stomach ulcers

Q: What is the difference between Prilosec and Nexium?
I wanted to know what was the difference between Prilosec and Nexium. All I know they are both purple. Is one better than the other.
Thank You.

A: I believe it’s cost. Nexium is more expensive I think.

Q: Can nexium create a false positive for Pancreatic cancer?
A relative was recently told based on blood tests that she may have pancreatic cancer. She has consistently taken nexium and other drugs for acid reflux, migraines, and arthritis. Can these drugs or any for that matter cause a blood test to come back positive for pancreatic cancer?

A: Blood tests for presence of cancer are screening tests and are not 100% diagnostic of the presence of cancer. Biopsises and other tests need to be done to ensure a positive diagnosis.

That said, blood tests look for specific proteins made by specific kinds of cancer cells. Medications are unlikely to give a false positive on this type of test. That does not mean that the blood test is 100% reliable however. It does mean that more diagnostic tests are needed.

Q: What’s the difference between Nexium and Prilosec?
Prilosec seems to work better for me. Nexium causes me to wake up with a congested nose and plugged ears! Why is that? I thought they’d be about the same.

A: They are both proton pump inhibitors, but they are not exactly the same. Pick the one that works best for you! I take Prevacid.

Q: How long should you be taking Nexium for acid reflux?
I have been diagnosed with acid reflux and have been taking 1 Nexium tablet daily for about a year and a half. Although it is used for heartburn I have never had heartburn at any time. I wonder if there is a time limit on long you should be on it.

A: It’s a bad idea to stop any medication without checking with your doctor first. Have you thought that the Nexium is the reason you don’t have heartburn?

BTW, people are on it for years w/o difficulty.

Q: Any ideas for a healthy substitute for Nexium to treat acid reflux?
I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux a few years ago and put on Nexium. At times it does not seem to be doing what I should, and the BIGGEST problem I have is that there is a tremendous amount of gas. Any ideas on a good (healthy) substitute?

A: The best thing to do is change your diet – it may not help all the way, but it will help a lot. If you eat foods that are alkaline instead of acidic it will help a huge amount.
Cut out greasy foods, soda, coffee, and tomatoe sauces entirely.
If you drink water with lemon (real lemon – not alternatives) it will help to balance out the PH in your stomach. Also tons of fruits and vegis (fresh) and fruit and vegi juices (from a juicer) will make a HUGE difference with your stomach.
Basically you just need to get the acid production down.

Look up “the PH balance diet” – he has lists of acidic and alkaline foods – some will surprise you. If you eat 80% alkaline and 20% or less acidic, you will feel tons better. It’s hard to do and a major diet change, but you can do it if you try.

PS, in response to the other answers: ginger does help a lot of people with stomach problems. The over the counter ones will not help you if Nexium isn’t doing the job – they don’t do anything for me at all.

Q: Can I drink Alcohol while taking my two weeks of Nexium?
My doctor is trying me out on this stuff called Nexium to control stomach acid. And Canada day is coming up so im planning on drinking then , will i be able to? I cant find anything in the pamphlet the pills came with.

A: Well there is no sideffects per say. But if you want your heartburn under control then the answer to your question is to avoid alcohol.
I got my information form webmd. great site to get alot of questions answered. does not take the place of a health care professional.

Stop Heartburn and Acid Reflux
Fortunately, you have several options for heartburn relief:

Try eating smaller meals, and don’t eat two to three hours before bedtime.
Avoid foods that may trigger heartburn, such as fried food, citrus, tomato, spices, peppermint, chocolate, and carbonated drinks.
@Cut back on alcohol and caffeine. @
Stop smoking if you smoke.
Lose weight if your doctor says you’re overweight.
Cut back on aspirin and pain relievers if you take them often.

Q: I take Nexium every day. Can I take an over the counter antacid for heartburn?
Apparently the Nexium isn’t working too well today. I haven’t eaten anything really spicy or greasy, but I suddenly got awful heartburn. Would it hurt me to take some Maalox or Tums?

A: Chew mint gum, or pop in a MINT altoid. Mint is a natural antacid- As is plain yogurt. Lastly, another really good remedy for tummy issues: Black Liccorice

Q: What is different between the Protonix and Nexium?
Protonix and Nexium are medicine for delaying acid.

A: They both reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach. Generally used for ulcers, reflux, espohigits, etc.

Q: What are Nexium known harms to a nursing infant?
I have been taking Nexium due to sever heartburn while breastfeeding and now after 4 months I have found out that it is harmful to a nursing infant. I stopped the medication right away, but I am freaking out and need to know what is going to happen to my baby. What are the possible side effects that I need to look for and be aware of. This is driving me insane with worry!
Although the pediatrician told me it is ok to take Nexium. I am finding that the general recommendation is not to take it while breastfeeding…I am confused as to why this doctor said it is ok when it may not be!!

A: why are you waiting here for an answer, take the child to a pediatrician and ask your questions, you are far more likely to get accurate answers.

Q: Is there anything i can buy over the counter thats the same as nexium?
Ha, well i did it this time. I dropped all of my girlfriends nexium in the toilet. Woops. So anyways, she can’t get a new refill cause she just got one. So i was wondering if there is something i can buy at like wallgreens or cvs or something that would work the same? Just to get her by for a little while.

A: try prilosec OTC

Q: Do any of you have experience purchasing Nexium from an online Pharmacy from Canada or Mexico?
My health insurance won’t cover Nexium. Does anyone have experience with an online pharmacy in Canada or Mexico or another foreign Pharmacy website? I am fearful of getting dangerous or bogus Nexium. Please advise me of your experience.

A: Drugs that stop the acid production in your stomach will only cause you more problems down the line. Your colon will slow because you are not absorbing any nurtition from your food and therefore you will eat more and gain weight. Your probably thinking Im nuts because your stomach hurts sobad you can hardly stand it but you should research braggs vinegar and take some anytime you have heartburn. I know you are thinking vinegar is acid so it wouldnt work but you will know with just one dose of taking it so why not save yourself a life time of pill taking and just try it. Its like 2.99$ . The only vinegar that will work is the kind with mother in it so dont just use red vinegar or white… its not all the same. Just look it up and see for yourself.

Q: Do some people use prescription strength Prevacid ot Prilosec, or Nexium for years or just temporarily?
I am 33. I have GERD. For the last three years I have had to take prescription strength Nexium. My doctor told me to get an endoscpoy but I just can’t fathom the thought of someone sticking a tube down my throat. It sounds grotesque. I can’t believe that’s the only way they can test for stomach problems. Anyways, it is alright that I take Nexium permanently? Do any other patients do this?

A: When you have an endoscopy, you are out…..they give you Verced, which knocks you out (partially, as you are rousable).

Go for the endoscopy to find out of esophageal rings are affected, if erosion of esophagus has occurred, or if there is a visual reason for the reflux. You won’t even be aware nor remember the procedure and something may be found……..good or not so good!

Q: Is it safe to take doxycycline hyclate with nexium?
I take Doryx (doxyclycline hyclate) before I go to bed. I also take nexium but is it safe to take them both at the same time?

A: Yes you can take them at the same time.

Q: phlegm kind of vomit one hour after taking Razo D (rabeprazole 20 mg domperidone 30 mg)?
I am 29 male diagnosed with GERD and esophagitis.have been taking Razo D (rabeprazole 20 mg domperidone 30 mg)since almost 2 months now. i take a capsule as soon as i get up and have breakfast 40-45 mins after that. since a few days ..1 hr after taking the capsule, i get a lot of cough and feel like my food pipe is filled with phlegm.. then i get motions and frothy phlegm like vomit. i feel much better after that. any suggestions? is it some kind of side effect?

A: I would call the doctor. It sounds like the medication or combo of them isn’t agreeing with you.

Q: can one take rabeprazole and omeprazole both for acidity?
I have been suffering with hyperacidity with more than a year now. i have been on rabeprazole 20 mg every morning since a few months now.. but it hasnt been able to cure properly. Can I have a rabeprazole in the morning and one omeprazole before dinner?

A: You’d be better off calling your doctor. Tell him/her what’s going on. The dose of the rabeprazole might be increased or a different med might be tried.

Q: I had a 4 1/2 hour operation under GA, 4 days ago, is it common for the side effects to remain this long?
The operation was for a tripal hernia repair. 13 small holes are in my belly. I still feel light headed, awfull taste in mouth, and no foods taste good to me. The only other meds I am on for this are Ran-Rabeprazole 20 mg tab one every 12 hours and Pms=Diclofenac EC 50 Mg tab one every 8 hours as needed.

A: It usually takes me about a full week to feel back to normal after General Ansthesia. I would wait a couple more days and see if you feel better, if not call your doctor. I have an upcomming surgery in a week and am not looking forward to that first week after either. Take care.

Q: rabeprazole sodium 10 mg?
Hey everyone, well about a week or 2 ago i got prescribed this pill called rabeprazole sodium 10mg because i have acid reflux and it seems to be helping. The thing is though that everytime i have startch like potatoes or fries i always get really nauses and have a burning stomach. Well today i forgot and went ahaed and had a poutin, not a good thing. Well now my stomach is killing me i have diaraha and my stomauch is nauses and burning and i’m a bit bloated. I took my pill before i ate and it didn’t help. I’m only supposed to take it once a day but would it hurt taking another one since i feel like crap? Or should I not and wait till i get back home to go see the doctor’s. I’m on vacation right now and won’t be back till Sunday.
Please give me some advice and let me know what to do i’m in pain and don’t want to go home just yet!!

A: No, do not take more than the doc prescribed. Those are all possible side effects of the medicine so talk with your doc when u get home. If the pain is real severe, go to nearest ER could be food poisioning.

Looking to Buy Rabeprazole? Need more information? Try our Canadian Pharmacy website TheDrugCompany.com

Q: can taking rabeprazole mask signs of cancer of the esophagus?
Watching Dr Oz today and he said that if you have acid reflux and are taking medications for it, the medication will stop the pain etc which can also mask any signs that cancer of the esophagus could be happening. Should I go off the medication for awhile to see if acid reflux is still a problem and if so, get checked for cancer.??

A: Rabeprozole, a class of the proton pump inhibitor drugs, is a commonly used medication to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease. The medicine will not ever mask any signs of cancer. What it is intended to do, along with prevent ulcer formation secondary to acid production, it to prevent the harmful stomach acid from being so prevalent that it causes changes in the lining at the gastroesophageal junction. Constant irritation at the GE junction will cause a transformation of cell from the typical squamous (flat) to columnar cells seen in the stomach. This transformation is known as Barrett’s Esophagus, and is only able to be diagnosed by performing an upper endoscopy with biopsies. The medication is intended to prevent acid production and insult to the cells at the GE junction, therefore preventing cell transformation. So the short answer is that no, the medication cannot mask signs of cancer of the esophagus.

Q: Is it ok to take Rabeprazole Sodium & Domperidone for more than 2 years?
I’ve been taking this now for more than 2 yrs for gastritis. Is that ok?any side effects?

A: Do you really trust your life with individuals here in Y/A?

I suggest you talk to your personal physician regarding your digestive diseases.

Good god…

Q: Why do I need to take Rabeprazole?
I had a sprain in the MCL(right knee). I had nearly recovered when I had a fall again. Doctor advised me to wear braces for 2 weeks and prescribed Diclofenac Sodium tablets and Serratiopeptidase tablets. Perhaps these are pain killers? Are they? I was also prescribed Rabeloc 20 ( Rabeprazole ). I looked it up and found it is used to reduce production of stomach acids. Why would I be prescribed these?

A: Diclofenac is used to relieve pain and inflammation in a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, gout, sprains, fractures, back pain and following minor surgery.

Serratiopeptidase is a powerful anti-inflammatory.

The absorption of certain drugs may be affected by changes in stomach acidity, I’d guess the Rabeprazole is to tailor your stomach acid to complement the other two drugs and protect you from the indigestion they may cause (especially the Diclofenac).

Q: can I drink a cocktail when I take rabeprazole sodium tablets?
This product is for heart burn

A: NEVER take medication with alcohol

Q: domperidone SR and rabeprazole sodium is cureable for stomach ulcers?
how will i get cure since last 4 years am suffering from stomach ulcers pains in lower back and abdomen can’t walk can’t sit so pls advice me the medicines .at present am taking hpylory but not curing

A: You NEED to be on an antibiotic plus a proton pump inhibitor med such as Prevacid or Nexium. These two meds taken in conjunction are vital in curing h pylori. Good luck to you.

Q: What Herb is most likely to interact with prescription drugs such as Rabeprazole Sodium (Pariet) orFenofibrate

A: rabeprazole is extensively metabolized in liver so any drug affect liver metabolizing enzyme exactly is cytochrome p-450 will either increase or decrease efficacy but aim sorry that i do not know the herb that affect this enzymes so look at the contraindication if buy the herb from the OTC in pharmacy and buy from recommended source only since the unstudied formulas is very toxic

Q: Does anyone have access to clinical trials with Intravenous Rabeprazole?
IV Rabeprazole is marketed in India since 2004. Rabeloc IV, Rabicip IV, Rablelet IV…

A: http://www.controlled-trials.com/mrct/trial/%7C/1059/157601.html

Q: I am using RAZO-D(Rabeprazole Sodium and Domperidone SR Capsule) for hyper acidity from past 2 months.?
I am using RAZO-D(Rabeprazole Sodium and Domperidone SR Capsule) for hyper acidity from past 2 months.

Still there is no improvement in my health condition. I am not able to lead a happy day!! Please help me

A: depends on your doses and why you are taking domperidone, and why you are taking them anyway, omeprazole is more common and at doses of 20-40mg daily usually cuts acid production, have you been tested for helicobacter pylori or treated with metronidazole and amoxycillin combined? have you had a gastroscopy?

Q: Is 10mg twice daily of rabeprazole just as or more effective than 20mg once daily?
^

A: it depends on the patient. the drug is long acting enough to be taken once daily but i would prefer to take 10mg twice daily. when i take the entire dose in the morning, i sometimes have
minor heartburn after dinner. most people would be okay with taking 20mg once daily

Q: how can we get stable rabeprazole pellets?
these pellets are colour changed in few months

A: rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor anti ulcer drug.it is an unstable drug because of its hygroscopic nature and because it is unstable in acidic environment . to make it stable rabeprazole at the core is surrounded by water soluble inactive layer like hydroxy cellulose and enteric coated to make it stable in gastric environment.

Q: what is the precription medication in canada “rabeprazole sodium” used for?

A: This medication is used to treat duodenal (intestinal) ulcers, as well as conditions that cause extreme increases in stomach acid production (such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome), erosive esophagitis (severe, chronic inflammation or ulceration of the esophagus), and heartburn–both due to gastroesophageal reflux (backwash of stomach acid into the esophagus).

Q: can cummadin and orphenadrine citrate 100mg andnaproxen andaciphex rabeprazole sodium cause limp dick?
i have been usig the acid flex drug for three days and now im on mussle relaxer drugs

A: Those medications should not be causing that, none of them have effects on erection, the coumadin works on blood clotting, the orphenadrine relaxes skeletal muscle(none of that in your penis), naproxen is an antiinflammatory, and aciphex only works in your stomach, so i dont think its related

Q: Rabeprazole sodium?
Rabeprazole sodium?
doctor prescribed me it, and im 17 is it ok to take it?

my doc is on vacation and im having liver pains from taking it, and joint pains.

A: Although these are not noted side effects of rabeprazole (see source link below), I would suggest you stop taking it and see some other doctor as soon as possible. Don’t wait till your doctor comes back.

If you can tolerate the heartburn or indigestion symptoms, it’s fine to stop taking rabeprazole.

Q: rabeprazole sodium 10 mg?
Hey everyone, well about a week or 2 ago i got prescribed this pill called rabeprazole sodium 10mg because i have acid reflux and it seems to be helping.
Q: Gastritis, should i be taking pantoprazole?
The doc said i have gastritis and prescribed pantoprazole 40 mg , I’ve done some research and pantoprazole is a pretty strong drug (4 cases of death have been reported in older aged people) , should i be taking this for gastritis?

A: Pantoprazole is Protonix – a proton pump inhibitor similar to the over-the-coutner mediation Prilosec (omeprazole). It reduces acid production in the stomach and is therefore used to treat gastric ulcers and acid reflux disease (GERD).

You could potentially just as easily treat the gastritis yourself by taking over-the-counter prilosec.

But, pantoprazole is actually a very well tolerated and very safe drug.

Aspirin could be considered more dangerous…and has indirectly and directly caused more millions of more deaths than pantoprazole.

…though, aspirin is considered a very safe drug, too…if used appropriately.

Protonix is safe for pregnant women to take (a class B drug), though aspirin is not (a class D drug).

Hope this helps some…

Q: prolonged use leads to what?
i am using pantoprazole 40 mg for the past 4 years daily in the morning empty stomach. i heard of bacterial infection as adverse effects. i want to know, whether there is any other complications in prolonged use of it? i doubt of CA, in that sense, what type of CA can be? please reply exactly.

A: The most common side effect of a medicine on prolonged use is loss of libido,,be it for hypertension, heart disease, arthritis or an anti peptic ulcerant.Have you tried to reduce the dose to 20mg.or use a lower salt like omiprazole or rinetidine. If not,try it now and ultimately you will be able to give it up and take it only on “when required “bases.

Q: Please help i need help immediatly?
My chest is hurting whenever i breath. I am feeling really dizzy. What could it be. I am taking these medicines for enlarged spleen and impacted poop. Pantoprazole sod 40 mg tab ec and polyethylene glycol 335 NF powder for oral solution. Please only serious answers. I also have asthma if that helps thank you so much.

A: sounds like you may have an allergy to the meds they are giving you.

you need a nebulizer to use to open your lungs. If you are feeling that bad, though, you need a doctor as soon as possible go to the ER if need be.

breathing is nothing to play with. I almost died from waiting too long to get to a doctor.

Take my advice and see a doctor now.

Q: What is the difference between pantoprazole and lansoprazole?
What is the difference between the two?

A: Their structures are quite different.

Lansoprazole: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lansoprazole.svg

Pantoprazole: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pantoprazole.png

Q: im taking fluoxetine and pantoprazole what are the sides effects?
i got an allergic reaction all over my body after 4 days of taking it what should i do?
my lips are swelled up aswell.

A: I think it´s not an interaction between these two drugs but you´re probably allergic to pantoprazole, I suggest you stop taking pantoprazole if that´s the drug you took before the allergic reaction ocurred and tell it your doctor as soon as you can.

Check this site for more info.

http://www.drugs.com/cg/drug-allergy-aftercare-instructions.html

Good luck!

Q: Effects of Long term use of pantoprazole?
Does anyone know the effects long term use of pantoprazole & other PPI’s have on the body.

Can these effects just develop after a few months of use or do they only start when you begin taking the medication?

A: Hi:

Check outMedlinePlus below for basic info. Also, your GP can help with specific symptoms. However, an extract from Drug Digest is:

“What side effects may I notice from taking pantoprazole?
Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
•fever or sore throat
•redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
•skin rash, itching
•unusual bleeding or bruising
•unusual weakness or tiredness
•yellowing of the eyes or skin

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
•diarrhea
•dizziness
•dry skin
•headache
•nausea/vomiting
•stomach pain or gas
•tiredness

What should I watch for while taking pantoprazole?
It can take several days of therapy with pantoprazole before your stomach pains improve. Check with your prescriber or health care professional if your condition does not improve, or if it gets worse. You can take antacids for the occasional relief of stomach pain unless your prescriber or health care professional tells you otherwise.”

Q: I’m having to take a perscription drug called pantoprazole. is there some over the counter remidys i can take?
i was in the hospital a month ago for gastritis pancreatic. ( I know i can’s spell, oh well). I don’t have insurance and had to pay like 120 bucks for my prescription. i need to know what natural or over the counter substitutes can i find. thank you.

A: Pantoprazole is used to treat GERD. There are a few herbs that are used to treat this condition. They are:

* Acorus calamus,  Sweet Flag

* Elettaria cardamomum, Cardamon

* Filipendula ulmaria, Medowsweet

* Zingiber officinalis, Ginger

The cheapest solution is to buy some ginger at your local health food store and drink ginger tea a few times a day. A better but slightly more expensive solution is to go to a qualified herbalist and have them make you a tincture out of some or all of the above herbs.

Q: if I miss 2days of taking pantoprazole ?–will I do any damage ?
I let my refill run toolong before calling for the next refil, now I have to wait at least 2–3 days, is this bad ???

A: You’ll be fine, you might have some bad heartburn.

Q: what is different between an ordinary pantoprazole & s (-) pantoprazole ?

A: I believe that it is the same medicine. This is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces acid in your stomach.
s(-) may just be referring to the active stereoisomer of the compound.
In nature our receptors can only accept one of the stereoisomers and not its mirror image. This is just plain organic chemistry.
pantoprazole would have both (+) and (-) forms and only the (-) form is the active form of the drug. It is chemical nomenclature that describes how the chemical entity will rotate light in a spectrophotometer. They are mirror images of each other in 4 dimensions.
I hope that I have not confused you.

Q: what about taking tramacet with pantoprazole sodium ec is there any side effects?

A: Please note that the best way to find out if you should mix any type of medication is to consult your doctor.

I recently took tamacet for the pain in my back, and I have to say it was the worse experience I have ever had with any medication. I was not taking any other type of medication, simply taking the tramacet, and I had hallucinations, I had a hard time breathing, I was shaking, I was sick, and not to mention very dizzy. This lasted all night, right into the morning.
I am not sure if you have been taking this medication for a while now, but I would definetely not mix it up with any other type of medication. Please be careful.

Q: Long term use of pantoprazole?
Does anyone know if long term use of pantoprazole & PPI’s in general (almost six months) can cause constipation?

A: SIDE EFFECTS: Pantoprazole like other PPIs is well-tolerated. The most common side effects are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, rash and headaches. Dizziness, nervousness, abnormal heartbeat, muscle pain, weakness, leg cramps and water retention rarely occur.

Q: When should I take pantoprazole medication?
Before or after a meal in the morning

A: Pantoprazole is a medicine of anti peptic ulcerant group which reduces the acid secretion. It gives the best results when taken 30-45 minutes before meals.Even if you take it with or after meals,it will be effective but not as effective if taken on empty stomach.Usually one cap.in the morning is sufficient to provide 24 hour cover.

…though, aspirin is considered a very safe drug, too…if used appropriately.

Protonix is safe for pregnant women to take (a class B drug), though aspirin is not (a class D drug).

Hope this helps some…

Q: is there a liquid pantoprazole?
I have the 40mg pantoprazole for acid reflux but pills don’t go well with me I just tryed taking one major discomfort and now I feal worse then before I took it.

A: not at the moment but there is a recipe to make a slurry from the tablets that the pharmacists must compound

Q: What is PANTOLOC pantoprazole sodium?
And what are the side effets of this medicen?

Q: what kind of drug i have [pantoprazole]?
what is the drug pantoprazole and what is it for

A: Pantoprazole is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and injury of the esophagus.

It is also used to treat conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Q: I’m taking medication for GERD called Pantoprazole. I just started today, it’s once daily.?
I feel acidic in my tummy, With this, can i still take my antacid? With most major foods a no-no for GERD what can i eat as alternative ?

A: Pantoprazole is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and injury of the food pipe (esophagus). It is also used to treat conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Pantoprazole is in a class of medications called proton-pump inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach.
Please see the web pages for more details on Pantoprazole.

Q: What kind of heartburn medication do you take?
I get quite bad heartburn (usually at least 3 – 4 times a day and every night when I go to bed). Over the counter medicines such as gaviscon, etc. just don’t quite cut it! I went to the doctor and was prescribed Somac tablets (pantoprazole). These work great but cost a lot ($30 for a pack of 30 tablets).

Has anyone else been prescribed heartburn medication for the doctor that they have found has worked well but is not too expensive?

Thanks!

A: you probably have an ulser you must get this chekedout before it gets to serious but i would try nexium thats a goodstomac pill and its not expensive at walmart. or aske your doctor for samples

Q: ulcer treatment??any doctor help?
my aunt has an ulcer, dont know stomach or duodenal, but think that it is stomach.we treat ed with lansoprazole 30 mg,metronidazole and amoxycillin 1 g for one week. one month went fine then again symptoms started reappearing.now again started after 3 months.but not as worst symptoms as used to be like vomitting etc.only pain sometimes.what should we do now?shuld we start with just lansoprazole 15 mg per day?coz we cant have permanant treatment as she lives in a very backward village.should lansoprazole be taken routinely or only when pain starts?

A: Before you go back to the medication regimen (or in addition to it–whichever you decide), you may want to suggest that she start eating at least 2 tablespoons of honey every day. Although research is ongoing, there have been promising results from the ingestion of honey and the healing of stomach ulcers. This may also be useful information because your aunt is unable to undergo permanent treatment for this condition.

Q: I have been taking 30mg lansoprazole in morning and 300 mg Zantac at night for 6 months?
The Doctor prescibed due to small ulcers and gastritus seen in endoscopy. Both my father and two grandfathers suffered from same.Is it safe to take long term,as soon as i have a break from them, the pain returns, have been taking lansoprazole on and off for ten years.

A: Like Denise said.. you should bring this up to your doctor.. but, I can tell you that Im going through the same thing, and have been taking these medicines for 5yrs.. the only thing that changes for me is I get immuned to them and then the doc has to up the dosage.. so, I dont think he’d up the dosage and let me be taking them for so long if it were dangerous… GOOD LUCK!!!!

Q: can I take Ibuprofen for swollen muscles whilst on lansoprazole for acid reflux and propranolol for anxiety?
On lansoprazole for gastric reflux and recently been given propranolol for severe anxiety attacks. Taking them together on my doctors advice. However, the panick attacks often cause me to gasp for breath and as a result I have strained my chest muscles. Can I take Ibuprofen for the swelling whilst I am taking these other drugs? Confused and in bad pain!

A: ibuprofen can badly affect the digestive system which could cause more acid reflux for you, if you are in that much pain visit a&e

Q: I have been taking lansoprazole 30mg for two months for confirmed endoscopy peptic ulcers?
As the pain and sickness has not improved, I have been prescribed zantac.which after five days has improved the pain and sickness.

Is it because zantac if more expensive, than lansoprazole.

A: They act in different ways. Zantac is an antihistamine and reduces the effect of the histamines in the stomach that cause acid to be produced. Lanzaprosole is a Proton-pump inhibitor which has a direct effect on the acid producing bits of your stomach, also by inhibiting the action of a chemical. Not sure why one has worked better for you but since it has, stick with it.

Q: Can I take 30mg Lansoprazole caspules to Thailand?
Hi I am taking 30mg Lansoprazole caspules for my stomach acid. I am go to Thailand for 2 weeks in April. Does anyone know if I can take these tablets with me please. Thank you for your help.

A: I take the same medication as you and I take Lansoprazole with me every time I visit Thailand. If you run out of the medication you can buy medical drugs over the counter ,which I usually get at Boots chemist in Pattaya.

Q: What is the difference between pantoprazole and lansoprazole?
What is the difference between the two?

A: Their structures are quite different.

Lansoprazole: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lansoprazole.svg

Pantoprazole: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pantoprazole.png

Q: Is it safe to drink alcohol whilst on Lansoprazole tablets?
I dont mean excessive, go out n get plastered drinking.
Just a bottle of wine (shared between 2) or a few pints of cider.

A: Yes it’s fine. I’ve been on Lanzoprazole and Omeprazole for years, and never, ever had any problems with the occasional glass of wine. Both are proton pump inhibitors – they just limit the amount of acid your stomach produces. They do not effect alcohol metabolism, in other words, will not make you feel more, or less, drunk or ill .

All drugs come with a health warning – even paracetamol and ulcer cream. They have to cover their butt’s…but if you don’t feel comfortable with it, don’t do it! Whatever happens..it wont kill you

Cheers (hic)

Q: Do I take omeprazole for the same length of time as lansoprazole if I am switching medications?
I was directed by a doctor to take 30 mg of lansoprazole (Prevacid) daily for 12 weeks. But after 2 weeks I’m switching over to the cheaper priced omeprazole (Prilosec) (20 mg daily). Should I take the Prilosec for the remaining ten weeks that I was supposed to take the Prevacid?

A: If you call any pharmacist they will help you. But I think your plan is a good one.

Q: I take 60 mg lansoprazole morning and 300 mg ranitidine at night for acid reflux confirmed by endoscopy?
In the last two weeks i have felt a lump on swallowing ,seen ENT and they confirm acid reflux no actual lump refered again to GI.Will this lump feeling go away.

A: I’ve heard “2 or 3 teaspoons (10-15 ml) of Apple Cider Vinegar in an 8 ounce glass of water, before meals or whenever heartburn is experienced.”

It’s also quite possible that just drinking more water can help. Do you drink 64 ounces or more per day?

Q: I have been taking lansoprazole 30 mg for six months?
as diagnosed by endoscopy with gastritus with small ulcers in stomack.I am still getting pain and burning above navel at night, why is this.

A: Cant tell you why, but I have just been prescribed those and it says on the help sheet not to take them for longer than a month as there effectiveness will wear off.
Google ways to control the acid with diet, I tried this and the general advice was the same as most sensible eating plans. Don’t eat late at night, small and often portions, cut back on alcohol, the usual.
It also said try raising the head end of your bed to create an incline, this may help with the acid reflux.
Apart from that, best you ask a doctor. good luck

Q: Is the gelatine used in Lansoprazole capsules of animal or vegetable origin?

A: animal origin sure of that

Q: Any one else feel really sick and so tired when taking lansoprazole?
Got quite a high dose but after about two days i started feeling really sick. Is this a side effect or have i got a bug?

A: Lansoprazole is used to treat ulcers; gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and injury of the food pipe (esophagus); and conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Lansoprazole is used in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, a bacteria that causes ulcers. Lansoprazole is in a class of medications called proton-pump inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach.
Lansoprazole may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if either of these symptoms is severe or does not go away:
* stomach pain
* diarrhea

Q: Is it safe to drink Prevacid(Lansoprazole) every day?
I have an Ulcer in the Esophagus and I drink Prevacid every morning to prevent Acid Reflux as directed by my Dr. If I stop drinking it the reflux comes back. Is it safe to drink it every day? Or should I look for some other way of fighting the reflux?

A: look for ways to prevent the reflux..

Q: Is it ok to have a beer/day, on amoxicillin, lansoprazole, clarithromycin?
I am on amoxicillin, lansoprazole, clarithromycin combo to address bacterial overgrowth(? or something – basically I started feeling heavy stomach more often than usual/comfortable, and they found excess of antibodies in my blood, so I don’t have any serious condition).
Is it ok to drink beer (~1 per day) with these?
Internet forums offer conflicting responses so if possible please reply with source.

A: yes as long as you literally mean only one

Q: I get burning in the back of my throat after I eat. The doctor has prescribed me Lansoprazole – is this right?
I don’t smoke, drink caffeine, eat chocolate. I rarely drink alcohol and I tend to just drink water.

A: I have been prescribed lansoprazole for gastric reflux as anything i eat..whether it be bland or not seems to stay in the upper part of my gullet. I get burning and my throat and nose bleeds with this. I am sick every day and am due to see a gasterologist about it soon. It has been a long term problem for me. If the tablets are working then great as they are supposed to relieve it.Unfortunately they dont for me.If it gets worse then go back to your GP for more tests.
take care XX

Q: is any one on lansoprazole and clopidogrel, if so do the two together cause any interactions?
I have read so many problems with the two makes me wonder if its worth it all.
Thank you.

A: Hi, there is no drug interaction between lansoprazole and Clopidogrel. All medication has side effects, most of the time people don’t experience major side effects.

If you are experiencing side effects that are impeding on your life, then have a chat with your Dr- there other medications. There is never a ‘one pill suits all’. With all drugs, there is a risk benefit ratio and this should always be taken into consideration.

It’s very important that you take Clopidogrel if you have been prescribed it, don’t stop taking your medication without speaking with your Dr first.
